I'm gathering posts...

Hey folks. Thanks for dropping by (whomever is actually here, anyway!) I've been very busy with other things and haven't had much time to get this site rolling along better. I'm bummed about that, because every week I put off finishing this site up and posting, there are a bunch more solutions that I want to put up here! It's getting crazy.

However, I'm really starting to get motivated to get the site rolled out more properly. For now, I've posted what will end up being the first article (even though it's formatted pretty poorly, and doesn't look too fancy.) I still have much work to do on the site theme and on making posts look better in general... oh well. The content is king, eh?? :P

So, check out Native sh404SEF (for Joomla!) extension for PU Arcade component SEF with scores! to see the kind of info I'm looking forward to recording at ThisWorked.com!

Again.. thanks for visiting. :)

Native sh404SEF (for Joomla!) extension for PU Arcade component SEF with scores!

Trust me, that title was a pain to figure out! First, I need to explain that so I get some search terms in here that make sense for future visitors:

I'm using the Joomla! CMS system on some other sites I run (this site uses Drupal, by the way,) and there's a search engine-friendly (SEF) URL component for it called "sh404SEF". I'm also using a sweet online arcade component for Joomla! called PUArcade by Pragmatic Utopia. Until roughly now, there weren't many ways (if there were any at all) to have SEF URL rewriting in Joomla turned on without rendering the high score saving in PUArcade inoperable. (...whew! See how hard it is to construct a title with all that info??)

Well, I've solved the problem, so here we go with a post about it. Read on to see how I've solved the problem. This worked for me using PUArcade 2.3x and sh404SEF on Joomla! 1.5x. I hope it works for you. ;)

General Construction Warnings

Hi. I wanted to give some advance warning about how I work on Web sites. I edit, add, remove, change and mess with sites while they're live. I know it's not the most "professional" way to do things, but I honestly don't care much about that. To me, it's fun to just hack things. I try hard not to break anything important, but that's not to say I don't just muss around with reckless abandon.

My point is that things are bound to change drastically around here for a while. I just launched the site (finally) and I'll be playing a bit to see what I like/not about the layout & features. The general idea is to get things settled pretty soon and then dive into content additions. Hopefully I won't get too bogged down in structural elements, etc.

Again, thanks for visiting and please don't mind the mess. I'll explain what solution I chose for building this site and talk more about forthcoming features when I get a chance. (Also, I'm building up three (!!) different sites in parallel here so I'm pretty busy. I'll try to be quick though.)

First Post!!! (AKA: Welcome to ThisWorked.com)

Yeah, I hate "First Post!!!!" goons as much as you do, so I figured I'd get the true first post out of the way so we no longer have to worry about that.

Yay.

Now, on to the introduction -- ThisWorked.com is an idea I've dwelt on for some time and finally I'm building it out. The concept is to accumulate solutions to many of the various problems I'm dealing with on a daily basis. I do web/game/software development as well as just being a tinkerer and fix-it type dude. I'm constantly discovering solutions for various things and I want those solutions documented. This site is what I hope will provide that.

The concept is solid from a personal organization level, but I really hope it springs up into a community-oriented solutions database for many future hackers & handymen (& women). Please get comfortable and I'll build things out more so you can get an idea of what I'm thinkin' about here.

Welcome and thanks for droppin' in. :)

Cheers,
[Paul] Hoza
